  • Rest in Peace – James Kim

James Kims’ body was found earlier today and I can’t understand why I’m genuinely grieving. My heart goes out to his family. He was 35, a senior tech Editor at cnet.com.  His wife, 30 and two daughters a 4 year old and a 7 month old.

I see a parallelism … when I turn 35, Marchesa will be 30 and  Emma will be 4 and we’d probably have a baby on the way or even a 1 year old by that time.  I could never see myself dying and leaving my family at that tender age. I know God will take care of them but …

    Rest In Peace Mr. Kim.

  • stuff

i cant seem to write anymore. i want to but i cant seem to find the time. too busy? not really. for some reason i’m not as introspective as before. is it the world? has it gotten to me. have i gone to the dark side of un-blogging. maybe.

James Kim is still missing. On of the human interest stories that i’ve been following the past 36 hrs. sad but he left because he wanted to save his family. he ended up not being saved. i really hope he is ok.

Marchesa has been doing pretty well with her ebay. i started that thing a year ago. tried to sell stuff but i stuvk. stunk so bad that even skunks rn away. Then Marchesa took over. just last september. in the 10 weeks that she’s been doing this, she already tripled the number of positive comments on the account. teacher, youth leader, entrpeneur and above all a God fearing mom. What more can I ask.

So … Hillary Clinton is running for president, looks like 2008 is going to be interesting. Obama, Gulliani, McCain and Clinton.

Work has been busy. I’ve been doing something that will launch on the 13th … watch out for it on this blog. It’s pretty cool. It has to do with a newspaper, a sushi bar in Mumbai and some goldenrods. Thats all I can say or i’ll get fired.

The Eagles won monday and we are still in the running for the playoffs. Garcia was awesome monday. 3 TD’s and no interceptions. Stallworth was pretty sick with his one handed catches. Defense still needs to stop the run. They really stink at it. They allow an average of 200 running yds per game. that just stinks like a farmed shiitake mushrooms. All we need to do is beat washington this weekend, kick the giants the week after that, run over the cowboys on christmas day then to make things sweeter pluck the Falcon’s feathers on week 17, that would give us a 10-6 record and a playoff berth. The rest will then be history. This is my dream and i’ll dream in whatever way i can.

    4816 is coming.

  • fa la la la la – la la la la

All I want for Christmas (2008) is my two front teeth.

  • web 2.0

So much hubbub about this particular buzzword but it simply means the next (second?) generation of applications that you can use over the web. Found below are a couple of  web 2.0 applications that I can’t seem to live without.

    Apps I use now:

    Apps I sorta use:

Apps I would like to get my hands on:

    • Zimbra - A better version of BlueTie

    • Goowy - Just like BlueTie and Zimbra but so much more

There are so much more apps out there if you want to reccomend some “useful” applications hit me with some comments.

  • Mobile Geek Must Haves

This past week took a huge step towards the future when it comes to mobile applications … for my world at least because Google ported another awesome application to the denizens of the mobile world. I’m going to highlight some apps that I can’t live without (or better known as .. Apps that make my wife hate me because I end up fiddling with my phone too much) .

    Applications:(Palm OS and Java based)

    • Mobile GMail – Google Mail at the “palm” of your hand. ( Background music: Whenever, Wherever by Shakira). Nuff said.
    • Google Maps for Mobile – This is the second time I mentioned this in my blogs. This app still rocks the boat! Looking for a Slovakian diner in Midtown Manhattan after realizing you lost your map?
    • Opera Mini – Better alternative than the sucky Blazer browser by Palm. I just wish there was a way to turn css off so there’s more reading than loading.
    • uBlog – Free blog application that I can use and it works with most blogs that support XML-RPC (WordPress, Movabletype,Blogger, Livejournal, etc). Sorry Xangans this is not for you. One cool way that I use this app is that I can take a picture of something in my treo and blog about it right away.
    • Pocket Tunes – An alternative media player for your palm. Can stream Internet Radio! Joe the Mango on the road in America? Pocket Tunes makes all that possible. Dear Joe ….

    Middleware:

    • Java Mobile Edition – A life saver. Giving you the ability to use Mobile Java Applications in the Palm OS platform. Most cellphones use this as an application manager. A related application can also convert .jar’s and ,jad’s to .prc’s. How cool is that?!?

    Other Stuff:

    • OpenDNS.com – This is not an application. Its a configuration change to your router or client machine that would enable you to speed up Domain Name Server Resolution. I use this both at home and my Treo. No more looking up wait time for me on the road. this makes all the above application much much better.

Disclaimer: you need an unlimited data plan for all these apps.

This is your friday geek reporting. Enjoy your weekend.
