  • Flickr and Vista (Publisher?)

Vista users now know that all hope has been lost when microsoft decided to no longer support the XP Publishing wizard in vista. From the looks of it, they didn’t stop supporting it, they just chopped it up in pieces and tucke dit somewhere.

For Flickr folks you can use this workaround to somewhat use a quasi XP Publishing wizard via Vista until they stop you from doing this.

I originally posted this entry via the flickr forums minutes ago. click here.

    1. Go to the uploading Tools Page. – www.flickr.com/tools/
    2. Click Here – www.flickr.com/tools/wizard.reg – Make sure you are logged in.
    3. Download that file then Edit it. (Right click, Edit)
    4. The part that says …
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerPublishingWizardPublishingWizardProvidersFlickr]
    Replace that with
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerPublishingWizardInternetPhotoPrintingProvidersFlickr]
Note: that the 2nd PublishingWizard Text has been replaced with InternetPhotoPrinting
    5. Save it.
    6. Execute it (add it to your registry).
    7. Open Windows Photo Gallery
    8. Select the pictures you want to upload
    9. Click on Order Print, Choose Flickr as your provider and follow the
rest of the instructions in the Order Print Window that will pop-up.

The only downside to this hack is that it no longer automatically
resizes your photos as you upload them. This is not a problem for pro
users since you have unlimited space anyway.

    Happy Uploading!

  • Haven’t had the pleasure (?) of using Vista yet.  Hope I don’t need to for a while.

    Be Blessed! – Dale
